Remote recording

Preparation:

1. Connect the smartphone / tablet to the camera via Wi-Fi

2. Tap theiconicon that is displayed at the bottom of the screen when starting up this application to display the recording screen

Taking a picture

  1. When Continuous mode has been set, tapiconto take multiple pictures in quick succession.

Recording a video

1. Tapicon

  1. Video recording is started. Tap again to stop recording.

Using the zoom lens

Move the zoom levericontoward T (telephoto) for longer focal lengths (to enlarge the subject) and toward W (Wide) for shorter focal lengths (to capture a wider angle of view).

  1. The zoom ratio is shown on the bar at the bottom of the screen.

Changing recording settings, etc.

Tap the icons below to perform each setting.

(For smartphones)

If you tapiconoricon, the icons below will be displayed. If you tapiconoriconagain, you will return to the original screen.

icon Simply touch the subject you want to focus on. It will be focused and the shutter will be released automatically.
icon You can select the focusing mode based on the position and number of the subjects.
icon For setting Aperture and the shutter speed, etc.

* The icon display will change depending on the camera's settings.

icon For setting an exposure compensation e.g. in situations with a significant brightness difference between subject and background.
icon For setting single shot, continuous, Auto Bracket and Self-timer modes.

Tapiconto display information (settings etc.) on the top and bottom of the recording screen. You can cancel the displayed information by tapping again.

Tapiconto display other recording settings and to perform settings such as [Color Mode].

  1. Depending on the recording mode, some items may not be displayed, and setting values may differ.
  2. The options you can set change depend on the camera model and its settings.
  3. The available setting options and values are only part of those available directly on the camera. Not all setting options and values will be displayed.
  4. Operation may differ from that directly on the camera.
  5. After changing settings, the quality of the image displayed on your smartphone / tablet can differ from the image displayed on your camera. It is recommended that you check image quality using your camera's playback screen.

Taking pictures using the Touch Shutter function

Simply touch the subject you want to focus on. It will be focused and the shutter will be released automatically.

  1. The icon will change toicon, and the Touch Shutter function becomes accesible.

2. Touch the subject you wish to focus on to take the picture

  1. The picture is taken when the focus is achieved.
  2. Tapiconagain to cancel the Touch Shutter function.

Taking pictures with automatic focusing (Auto Focus)

When the camera is set to Auto Focus, touching the screen will display the AF area frame, and the focus setting can be adjusted.
Explanation follows below.

Mode Function
[Face Detection] Recognizes people's faces, and adjusts the focus and exposure settings accordingly.
[AF Tracking] The focus and exposure settings will be adjusted for the determined subject even if it moves.
[23-Area] The focus setting is based on metering in up to 23 areas, making this mode ideal for off-center subjects.
[1-Area] The focus setting is based on a single small central area.
  1. Tapiconto clear the AF area frame settings.
  2. You can change the Auto Focus mode directly on the camera or change settings with the iconicon* on the screen.

  1. The operation may differ from that on the camera.

Manual focusing (Manual Focus)

When the camera is set to Manual Focus, a sliding bar appears on the screen, and the focusing can be done manually. This mode is convenient if you want to retain the same focus setting for several shots, e. g. if you know the distance to the subject will not change.

You can focus by dragging the sliding bar shown below.

  1. Tap the recording screen to switch to the MF Assist screen, which displays an enlarged section of the frame.
  2. Tapicon/iconto enlarge/reduce the section.
  3. Tap [Reset] to return the magnified section to the center.
